Mahindra XUV.e9 SUV spotted testing secretly in Indian market again

The upcoming Mahindra XUV.e9 has once again been spotted testing on Indian roads. The XUV.e9 is the coupe-SUV variant of the XUV.e8 and the second model in the brand’s all-electric XUV.e series. The latter is expected to go on sale by the end of this year. From the rear, the XUV.e9 bears a striking resemblance to the concept car that was unveiled in 2022. Other design features like the flush door handles on the front doors and a small integrated spoiler on the roof are also easily noticeable, as is the high-mounted rear with a wraparound light bar and a steeply raked rear windshield. Mahindra XUV.e9 SUV: Other design features

Although not seen in these spy photos, the XUV.e9 will feature dual-pod vertically stacked headlights with L-shaped daytime running lights (DRL) on the front fascia, just like the concept car. In previous spy photos, the radar module for the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) is located at the bottom of the bumper and the front license plate is placed at the top. The unique sloping roofline, curved LED taillights, square wheel arches, shark fin antenna and rear parking camera with sensors are some of the more eye-catching features.

In terms of dimensions, the XUV.e9 concept car is 4,790 mm long, 1,905 mm wide, 1,690 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,775 mm. The production model is likely to follow the same dimensions.

Mahindra XUV.e9 SUV: Interior details

Previous spy photos of the interior highlight features such as a three-screen configuration, a two-spoke steering wheel, a redesigned center console, and a drive mode selector lever. The three-screen layout includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen for the front passenger and two other 10.25-inch horizontal screens. Other amenities may include wireless charging, Level 2 ADAS features, a fully digital instrument panel, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof.

Mahindra XUV.e9 SUV: Powertrain

While most details about the powertrain remain under wraps, the XUV.e9 will be built on Mahindra’s in-house developed INGLO skateboard platform. The platform allows for rear- and all-wheel drive powertrains with outputs up to 335bhp. It also supports a variety of battery sizes, from 60 to 80kWh, with fast charging capabilities up to 175kW. The all-electric vehicle is expected to have a range of up to 450km. The XUV.e9 is Mahindra’s second electric SUV after the XUV.e8 and is likely to go into production in 2025.
