In OEMs operating in India, launching a black or dark version of the SUV has become a viable and profitable solution. Mahindra has previously launched the XUV700 Napoli Black, which misses the black interior. Now, Mahindra has just launched the XUV700 Ebony Edition, which gets a black interior on the black exterior.
Mahindra Xuv700 Ebony Edition WalkAround
Mahindra Auto, a famous SUV manufacturer in India, has just launched the XUV700 Ebony Edition in India. It only offers top-spec AX7 and AX7L Trim levels in 7S configurations equipped with FWD layouts. Mahindra offers the “all-black” version of the XUV700 for the first time. The XUV700 is a bestseller in its field and is popular among the discerning SUV buyers.

Outside, we can see the ebony badge on the tailgate and on the driver’s side doors. Unlike the previously offered Naples black shadows, the Xuv700 Ebony Edition gets a new invisible black shadow that features metal and glittering flakes in its 3D pop music when Light hits at right angles. It looks more refined and glitter than midnight black or Naples black.
As part of the Ebony Edition, we can also see a blackened front grille and blacked it with 18-inch alloy wheels. The roof is also finished in invisible black shadows like other bodies. To add some contrast to this black shadow, Mahindra keeps the front and rear skateboards in the silver shade. The Mahindra Xuv700 Ebony Edition’s tagline is “Eliminate the Dark”, which is a clear dig on Tata Motors’ Dark Editions.

Black interior
All color options in the AX7 and AX7L trim levels get only the ivory interior. With the XUV700 Ebony Edition, buyers can now choose the black interior option. However, this is not “all-black” execution like some competitors do. In this sense, the roof lining of the Xuv700 Ebony Edition is a “light gray” shade, which is darker than the white shade seen inside the ivory.

In addition to the light grey roof lining, we can also see some silver trim on the dashboard and doors. Leather seating interiors as well as dashboard and door trim plastic is now completely black. Mahindra also replaces traditional chrome with dark chrome, seen in AC vents and steering wheel components.
