The latest spy shots were taken by car enthusiast Pranav Nemade. The XUV.e8 is likely to be the first model to debut next year. The XUV.e8 is essentially an electric version of the XUV700. But unlike the ICE to EV conversion, the XUV.e8 and other upcoming electric SUVs from Mahindra are based on the all-new INGLO platform. This is a born electric platform that promises significant improvements in performance, safety, technology and comfort.
Speaking of the XUV.e9, it is essentially the coupe version of the XUV.e8 / XUV700 Coupe. With its coupe shape, the XUV.e9 has a more striking road presence. There are some similarities in the design, such as the closed grille and triangular headlight housings. The full-width LED DRLs are slightly different, but the overall look and feel are largely the same. The bumper section has the same basic shape, although the design elements of the two SUVs are quite different.
The XUV.e8’s badge is placed on the closed grille, while the XUV.e9’s is placed on the bonnet. Both SUVs ride on aerodynamically designed alloy wheels, shod with low-drag tyres. The wheel arches of the XUV.e8 are rounded, while the XUV.e9’s have polygonal edges. Both SUVs feature body cladding, but the one on the XUV.e9 is wider, giving it a more rugged look. Flush door handles are common, but the XUV.e9’s rear door handles are placed on the C-pillars.
At the rear, the XUV.e8 borrows the taillights from its ICE sibling. But the bumper is new and the tailgate has changed. The XUV.e9’s rear profile is sportier with a full-width LED light bar and a prominent tailgate. The bumper also appears more rugged.
