Maruti e-Vitara electric SUV to be launched soon

Maruti Suzuki plans to launch its first electric vehicle (EV) – e-Vitara – in January 2025. Ahead of its official debut, the carmaker has released the first teaser of the Maruti e-Vitara, which is essentially the production version of the eVX concept. The mid-sized electric SUV will make its public debut at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, which is scheduled to kick off on January 17. Its price is expected to be announced in March 2025.

The 61kWh battery model will also come with an dual-motor (AWD) setup, producing 184bhp of maximum power and 300Nm of torque. AWD versions will include an additional off-road driving mode. The Maruti e-Vitara’s driving range has not been officially disclosed, but it is expected to have an electric range of over 500 kilometers.

Platform and size

The upcoming Maruti e-Vitara will be based on Heartect-e, a new skateboard platform jointly developed by Maruti and Toyota. This architecture will also underpin Toyota’s new electric SUV based on the e-Vitara.

The new Maruti electric SUV measures 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, 1,635 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. It has a ground clearance of 180mm and a curb weight of between 1,702kg and 1,899kg.
