Maruti Grand Vitara sales surpass 220,000 units in 22 months:

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara was launched nearly two years ago to compete with Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq and Kia Seltos. Carefully positioned in the compact SUV segment, the Grand Vitara gained popularity primarily on the basis of its fuel efficiency, value for money, premium cabin and brand image. The brand sold 100,000 units of the SUV in just 12 months and crossed 200,000 units in less than two years.

In comparison, it took Hyundai Creta 25 months to reach the sales target of 2 lakh units, which was launched in 2015. Now, let’s talk about the annual sales of Grand Vitara.
The brand sold 51,315 SUVs in fiscal 2023. Note that this is only six months of sales, as the car was launched at the end of September.

In the next FY 2024, the Grand Vitara sales were around 1,21,169 units, which means a significant increase in sales. In FY 2025, from April to June, around 27,066 units were sold.

What makes the Grand Vitara so popular?

Brand Value

Maruti Suzuki is a fairly old and trusted brand in India with a wide network of dealers and service centers. Moreover, the customer service and overall experience provided by the brand is quite satisfactory while the cost is kept low. Over the years, they have successfully built trust among the Indian consumers. This is one of the key factors in the sales performance of the Grand Vitara.

Fuel efficiency

Maruti Grand Vitara Hybrid has an ARAI certified mileage of 28 Kmpl

One of the unique selling points (USP) of the Grand Vitara is its efficient hybrid system. The Grand Vitara and its branded version, the Toyota Hyryder, are the most fuel-efficient cars in the segment. ARAI claims a mileage of nearly 28 KM/L for the Grand Vitara. On the other hand, the Hyundai Creta petrol claims a fuel efficiency of just 17.4 KM/L. Although the hybrid system costs extra, it can save a lot on fuel bills.

face to the future

The future of diesel cars in India, especially in Delhi, is uncertain. The Grand Vitara is available in both pure petrol and hybrid powertrains, which means once you buy it, you can drive this car worry-free for at least 15 years. The hybrid powertrain also solves the fuel efficiency issue.

There is something for everyone

The ex-showroom price of the Grand Vitara starts at Rs 10.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 20.09 lakh. This price range includes both petrol-only and hybrid models. This is another selling point of the Grand Vitara as it caters to consumers with different budgets. Some people who are planning to buy a sub-4-meter SUV can stretch their budget and buy the base model of the Grand Vitara, which is more than capable.

Compact yet spacious

The Grand Vitara is a perfectly sized car, with a cabin large enough for five people while remaining compact for easy maneuverability. The car can easily navigate through traffic and tight spaces.
