The festive season is around the corner and as expected, a host of new models are ready and gearing up for the launch. Major OEMs in India, including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia, and MG, are all gearing up to launch blockbuster products that are expected to hit the market by Diwali 2024. Here’s a quick look at the upcoming products and their key details.
Hyundai Alcazar facelift
Hyundai Motor India to announce Updated Alcazar The three-row SUV will be launched on September 9. The bookings for this SUV are already open across the country with prices starting from Rs 25,000. The SUV gets some cosmetic changes including a larger front grille with horizontal slats, H-shaped LED DRLs connected by a light bar, silver highlights on the bumper, newly designed 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and new full-width tail lamps with an ‘H’ motif. The interiors will get a new dual-tone theme, dual 10.25-inch screen setup, cooled rear seats, dual-zone climate control and ADAS. There will be no changes to its powertrain setup.
MG Windsor Electric Car
MG Motor India is all set to launch its new electric car, the Windsor EV, during the Diwali season. This will be the first product to come out of the MG and JSW joint venture. Essentially a rebadged version of the China-spec Wuling Air EV, the MG Windsor EV will be nearly 4.3 metres long. The electric crossover will have a wheelbase of 2,700 mm and will be available in a 5-seater configuration. Built on a pure electric platform, the model will feature the largest 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the segment and a comet-style digital instrument cluster. Windsor Electric Vehicle It will also be the first car in its class to feature fully reclining front seats (called “Sofa Mode”), and the first mass-market car to feature a panoramic glass roof. The car is expected to be available with 37.9kWh and 50.6kWh battery packs, giving it a range of 360km and 460km respectively.
New Kia Carnival/EV9
Kia India to launch The fourth-generation Carnival MPV and its flagship SUV EV9, October 3, 2024. Both the models will be launched via the CBU route and are expected to be priced around Rs 50 lakh and Rs 1 crore plus, respectively. Most of the updates will be limited to the exterior and interior of the new Carnival. It is already a well-equipped car with features like dual 12.3-inch displays, HUD, front and rear dashboard cameras, and digital rearview mirrors. Kia will also update its digital key with fingerprint recognition. It will retain the existing 2.2L diesel engine. The Kia EV9 electric SUV is designed on the Born Electric e-GMP flexible skateboard platform. Globally, it is offered with three powertrains – two single-motor RWD and one dual-motor with AWD.
New generation Maruti Dzire
Maruti Suzuki’s Dzire compact sedan is all set to launch its fourth generation in time for Diwali. The model will get a revolutionary design overhaul along with a more feature-rich interior and a new Z-series petrol engine. Its styling will be different from the new Swift, especially at the rear. However, the two models will share several sheet metal components and the same platform. Similar to the Swift hatchback, 2024 Maruti Girardelli In terms of interior, the new Dzire will borrow most of the interior features of the Fronx. It will be equipped with the first single-pane sunroof in its class. In terms of power, the new Dzire will use the Z series 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine with 5-speed manual and AMT transmission options. The automaker will also launch a CNG fuel option for the Dzire at a later stage.
