Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 recalled in India due to defects

Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall of over 2,500 units of the Alto K10 due to a possible issue with the steering gearbox assembly. While the automaker has not revealed the production year of the affected vehicles, it has announced that authorised dealers will contact customers for inspection and, if necessary, replace the faulty component free of charge. The company has also advised customers not to drive the vehicle until the defective component is replaced. The Alto K10 is currently priced between Rs 3.99 lakh and Rs 5.96 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is available in four core variants: Std, LXi, VXi and VXi Plus.

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10: Key details

The hatchback is powered by a 1-litre Dualjet petrol engine that makes 66 hp of power and 89 Nm of torque. It is available with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT. A CNG option is also available. The Alto K10 features steering wheel controls, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, manually adjustable ORVMs, keyless entry and a semi-digital instrument cluster. It comes with a reverse camera, dual front airbags, rear parking sensors and ABS with EBD for safety.

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10: Sales in July 2024

Alto ranked 20th in the list of best-selling cars in July 2024. The hatchback sold 7,353 units last month, up 4% from the total sales of 7,099 units in July 2023.

Other highlights

In July 2024, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,75,041 units, down 3.63% from 1,81,630 units sold in the same period last year. Of these, the company supplied 23,985 units abroad, 10,702 units to other OEMs and 1,40,354 units domestically. Total domestic sales in the passenger vehicle (PV) category stood at 1,37,463 units in July this year, down 9.64% from 1,52,126 units sold in the same period last year. However, exports grew 8.05% to 23,985 units last month.
