While the company already has three manufacturing plants in India, a fourth is expected to become operational by 2025
India’s leading car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has achieved several milestones in its manufacturing journey. They have the largest automobile portfolio in India, divided into Arena and Nexa dealerships. The company has a huge lead in sales that few rival brands can match.
By the end of 2024, Maruti Suzuki achieved a huge annual sales volume of 2 million vehicles. This is a huge achievement for the brand and signifies Maruti Suzuki’s massive manufacturing scale and its position as a carmaker in India.
Maruti Suzuki crosses 2 million unit sales milestone
The company sold 2 million units in a year, averaging 1,66,666 units per month. Maruti Suzuki becomes the first passenger car manufacturer in India to achieve this incredible feat. Even in Maruti Suzuki’s own history, this is the first time the company has sold 2 million units in a calendar year.
Notably, Maruti Suzuki has also become the first manufacturer under the global manufacturing facility of Suzuki Motor Corporation. The company’s two millionth vehicle is the Ertiga MPV, manufactured at the company’s state-of-the-art plant in Manesar, Haryana.
Baleno, Fronx, Ertiga, WagonR and Brezza are the company’s top-selling vehicles in 2024. Of the 2 million vehicles sold in 2024, 60% will be produced at the Manesar plant in Haryana and the remaining 40% will be produced at the Manesar plant in Haryana. Manufactured at the company’s Gujarat facility.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki manages all its manufacturing operations through two plants in Haryana and one plant in Gujarat. One in Haryana is located in Gurgaon and Manesar and one in Gujarat is located in Hansalpur. The company has a total annual production capacity of 2.35 million vehicles, which is currently being increased to 4 million vehicles to meet growing demand.
A new factory is about to be built in Kharkhoda, Haryana and is expected to be operational by 2025 with an annual production capacity of 250,000 vehicles. The company is also about to find a site to install a new 1 million production facility.
