Maruti Suzuki Fronx sales exceed 200,000 units

Maruti Suzuki Fronx has crossed 2 lakh units in wholesale sales in India. Launched in April last year, the Baleno-based compact SUV sold through the company’s premium Nexa dealerships and sold 1 lakh units in just 10 months. It reached 1.5 lakh units in 14 months and hit the 2 lakh units milestone in 17 months. According to SIAM wholesale data, Maruti Suzuki sold over 1.34 lakh units of the Fronx in FY2024, averaging 11,228 units per month in the first few years of sales. In the current fiscal, from April to August 2024, the SUV has sold 59,967 units, a year-on-year growth of 15%. That’s an average of 11,993 units per month, or nearly 400 units per day. With this, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx surpassed the Grand Vitara by five months to become the fastest Nexa SUV to reach the 2 lakh sales milestone.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Powertrain Options

Talking about the mechanicals, the SUV is available with two petrol engines: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated (NA) engine and a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbocharged engine. The latter outputs a maximum power of 99bhp and a peak torque of 147.6Nm, while the former outputs a peak power of 89bhp and a torque of 113Nm. The Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine can be mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The NA engine, on the other hand, can be mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or an automated manual gearbox.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Features List

In terms of features, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx comes with a host of amenities including an auto-levelling driver seat, auto-dimming IRVM, wireless charging, a multi-function steering wheel and a HUD display. It also offers rear AC vents, automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, cruise control and automatic LED headlights with DRLs. In terms of safety, it includes ESP with hill-hold assist and rollover mitigation, ISOFIX child seat mounts, ABS with EBD and up to six airbags.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Competition Check

The Fronx is available in Arctic White, Earth Brown, Gorgeous Red, Gorgeous Silver, Blue Black, Sky Blue and Majestic Grey. The SUV starts at Rs 7.51 lakh and goes up to Rs 13.04 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom. In the market, the Fronx competes with the likes of the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Toyota Taisor, Nissan Magnite, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Renault Kiger.
