In India, the Fronx is one of the most popular sub-4-meter cars. This Baleno-based crossover coupe has been doing exceptionally well in our market. Recently, a partially camouflaged test mule of the Fronx was spotted driving on Indian roads. This time, the car was equipped with an ADAS kit. In the latest spy photos, the ADAS sensors can be seen on the front grille, which the India-spec car does not have. This suggests that Maruti Suzuki might be considering launching this feature in India. Having said that, the brand might not offer the Level 2 ADAS kit. It is expected to include only the Level 1 ADAS kit with features like high beam assist, lane keep assist, vehicle departure alert, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and lane following assist.
Models like the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet offer Level 1 ADAS kit in the segment, while the Mahindra XUV 3XO is equipped with Level 2 ADAS technology. Maruti Suzuki plans to bring the Fronx facelift to the Indian market next year. Upon its launch, the Fronx facelift will be the fourth model in the segment to be equipped with ADAS.

A new hybrid engine?
Separately, Maruti Suzuki is working on a hybrid engine, or HEV. This engine will be used in a variety of models such as the Fronx facelift, the new-generation Brezza, the Swift Hybrid, and the Baleno facelift. This new hybrid engine will debut with the Fronx facelift. This engine consists of a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder Z12E engine, a smaller 1.5-2kWh battery pack, and an electric motor. The Z12E engine will act as a generator to charge the battery pack. After the upcoming Fronx facelift, the next-generation Baleno will be equipped with this powerful hybrid engine.

Maruti Suzuki has started exporting the Fronx to Japan. Currently, Japan is the only market where the Fronx is offered with the ADAS package. The SUV built for the Japanese market is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine similar to the Fronx sold in other export markets; this engine is not available in the Indian spec. While the SUV is offered only with a FWD option in other foreign markets, the Japanese-spec model will include Suzuki’s AllGrip Select AWD technology and several other unique features. Notably, the automaker is also working on incorporating this feature in the Grand Vitara
