Launched in May 2024 with a petrol engine, Maruti Suzuki’s fourth-generation Swift has added a CNG option to its powertrain line-up. The recently launched Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG is powered by the Z-series 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine and comes with a factory CNG kit. Unlike the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG, the CNG kit includes a large single-cylinder unit. The latter uses twin-cylinder CNG technology and includes two smaller CNG cylinders with a total capacity of 60 litres. This increases the boot space compared to conventional CNG cars.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG is available in three variants – VXi, VXi (O) and ZXi – and is priced from Rs 82 lakh to Rs 92 lakh. Meanwhile, the Grand i10 Nios CNG’s price range starts from Rs 7.68 lakh for the Magna variant to Rs 8.23 lakh for the Sportz variant, making it more affordable than the relatively new Swift CNG. All prices are ex-showroom. Apart from pricing, the Swift CNG and Grand i10 Nios CNG also differ in terms of engine output and size. Let’s see how:

Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG vs Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG: Output
As mentioned earlier, the Suzuki Swift CNG is powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine mated to a single-cylinder CNG unit. The unit produces 69bhp at 5,700rpm and 101.8Nm of torque at 2,900rpm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Maruti Suzuki says the CNG version has a fuel efficiency of 32.85km/kg (ARAI), which is 6% better than its predecessor.
On the other hand, the Grand i10 Nios CNG is powered by a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder dual-fuel (petrol plus CNG) engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The car comes with an integrated Electronic Control Unit (ECU) that ensures seamless transition from petrol to CNG and vice versa. In CNG mode, it produces 68bhp and 95.2Nm of torque.

Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG vs Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG: Dimensions
The Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG measures 3,860 mm in length, 1,735 mm in width and 1,520 mm in height, which makes it 45 mm longer and 55 mm wider than the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG. However, the height of both are the same. The wheelbase of both cars is also the same – 2,450 mm.
