Maruti Suzuki’s total sales in July fell 3.63% year-on-year;

In July 2024, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,75,041 units, down 3.63% from 1,81,630 units shipped in the same month last year. Of this cumulative figure, the company supplied 1,40,354 units domestically, 10,702 units to other OEMs and 23,985 units internationally. In the passenger vehicle (PV) segment, total domestic sales in July this year reached 1,37,463 units, down 9.64% from 1,52,126 units shipped in the same month last year. However, exports grew 8.05% to 23,985 units from 22,199 units shipped in July 2023. Let’s take a detailed look at the performance of other verticals.

Maruti Suzuki July 2024: Mini, Compact and MPV Segments

The Mini segment of the passenger car market (which includes models such as the Alto and S-Presso) sold 9,960 units in July 2024, compared to 9,590 units sold in the same period last year. On the other hand, the compact cars (Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR) sold 58,682 units last month, down from 67,102 units last year. The mid-size segment, represented by the Ciaz, also experienced a decline with 603 units delivered in July 2024 compared to 1,348 units delivered in July 2023. Moreover, total passenger car sales fell to 69,245 units in July 2024 compared to 78,040 units sold in the same period last year.

The utility vehicle segment saw sales fall from 62,049 units in July 2023 to 56,302 units last month due to the launch of models like Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny and XL6.

Other developments

Maruti Suzuki reported a net profit of Rs 3,649.90 crore in the April-June quarter of FY 2024-25, up 46.9% from Rs 2,485.1 crore in the same period last year. The profit was mainly due to favourable foreign exchange rates, low commodity costs and cost-cutting initiatives. The company’s net sales for the quarter were eye-catching at Rs 33,875 crore, a sharp increase from the first quarter of FY 2023-24.
