The Maruti Swift CNG will be officially priced and go on sale on September 12, 2024. The model will be equipped with a 1.2L three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine and a factory CNG kit. The Swift CNG may have slightly less power but more torque than the regular petrol engine with an output of 82bhp and 112Nm. However, the CNG model will definitely be more fuel-efficient, with lower emissions and running costs. Suzuki’s new 1.2L petrol engine is claimed to deliver 24.80kmpl (MT) and 25.75kmpl (AMT).
In terms of pricing and positioning, the Maruti Swift CNG will directly compete with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG, Tata Tiago CNG, Hyundai Exter CNG and Tata Punch CNG. The CNG model is expected to be priced around Rs 80,000 to 90,000 higher than the regular petrol model. Currently, the Maruti Swift hatchback range is priced between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.59 lakh (all ex-showroom).
The design and interiors of the Swift CNG are exactly the same as the petrol version. The hatchback will be equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 4.2-inch digital MID, a wireless phone charger, steering wheel controls, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, electrically adjustable and folding mirrors, a rear camera, six airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, Isofix anchors, electronic stability control and hill start assist.
After Swift CNG, the Indo-Japanese automaker will launch New generation Dzire compact sedan. Its official launch date is yet to be announced but the new model is likely to be launched in October. The 2024 Maruti Dzire will feature different design elements from the Swift. However, most of its features along with the powertrain and platform will be shared with its hatchback sibling. Maruti Suzuki will launch its first electric model, the eVX, in early 2025.
