Maruti’s new budget MPV for homes – Releases and features

The Maruti Suzuki has several new models in the pipeline, including budget-friendly small cars, premium SUVs and EVS. In addition, India-Japanese automaker plans to update its existing lineup by introducing makeovers, new models and special editions. Interestingly, Maruti is making compact and affordable MPVs for the Indian market, which is expected to debut in 2026. Codenamed YDB, this new Maruti compact MPV will be based on the popular Japanese Kei car Suzuki Spacia.

aspect:

The Japanese-standard Suzuki pilot length is 3,395 mm, with a two-row seat layout. However, the model coming to India will be longer than Spacia while still falling under the category below 4 meters. Speculation suggests that the new Maruti compact MPV will have a three-row seat configuration, making it a family-friendly vehicle.

Functions and Design:

A further difference to the Indian spec model is the absence of a sliding back door, which is available on the Japanese spec Spacia. It may also miss some beautiful features to control costs and achieve competitive prices in India. The upcoming Maruti Mini MPV may share features with the Fronx Compact Crossover and Baleno hatchback. It likely retains a wide air dam with chrome accents, rectangular headlights and front bumper contents.

Engine specifications:

In Japan, the Suzuki Spacia has a small capacity of 660cc engines. India’s new Maruti compact MPV will likely be available with a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder Z-series petrol engine borrowed from the Swift hatchback. The motor can be offered with two transmission options – a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic transmission. The maximum power of the gasoline unit is 82bhp and 108nm of torque.

Expected prices and competition:

In the company’s lineup, the new Maruti MPV will be located under Ertiga and XL6. The model will face challenges from cars like Renault Tribre and Nissan’s upcoming Triber-based MPV. It will be the most affordable MPV for Maruti Suzuki, with an estimated price of Rs 6 lakh – Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom).
