If you thought the track-only MCXtrema was a bit too much, then the Maserati GT2 Stradale might be just what you’re looking for. Based on the MC20, it’s Modena’s latest ‘supercar’.
As the name suggests, the street-legal sports car is inspired by the GT2 race car and features a racing-style design. The latter is obvious as the model features an aggressive front bumper, a widened shark nose, and larger air intakes with an integrated splitter.

They also feature a vented hood, front fender vents and 20-inch forged wheels. The model also features large side air intakes, an aggressive diffuser and an adjustable carbon fiber rear wing. The latter helps the car generate up to 1,102 pounds (500 kilograms) of aerodynamic downforce at 174 mph (280 km/h).
The interior remains largely unchanged, but drivers will find new carbon fiber-shelled sports seats wrapped in Blu Elettrico Alcantara upholstery. Customers can also opt for less extreme sports seats if they prefer seats that are more suitable for everyday driving.
In addition to the new seats, the steering wheel has been revised with integrated LED lights that illuminate above 5,500 rpm in Sport and Corsa modes to indicate when to change gears. The model also features a carbon fiber center tunnel, matte finishes and repositioned switchgear.
They come with yellow accents and a wireless smartphone charger that’s “enlarged to fit the latest smartphones.” Buyers will also find a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, and a 6- or 12-speaker sound system.
In terms of performance, Maser has shed 132 lbs (60 kg) and upgraded the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine to produce 631 hp (471 kW / 640 PS) and 531 lb-ft (720 Nm) of torque. That’s an increase of 10 hp (7 kW / 10 PS), but torque output is down 7 lb-ft (10 Nm), so it sounds like a mixed bag.
Regardless, the engine is connected to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. This enables the GT2 Stradale to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 201 mph (324 km/h). That’s a tenth of a second quicker than the regular model, but the top speed is 1 mph (2 km/h) lower.
In addition to the powertrain tweaks, the car also gets a track-specific suspension and a beefier Brembo brake system with larger carbon-ceramic brake discs. These changes sound relatively minor, but Maserati will offer two different performance packages.
The first adds an electronic limited-slip differential, carbon-ceramic racing brakes and ultra-high-performance Michelin semi-slick tires. They also come with unique ABS, ESC and MSP calibrations.
Customers looking for something even more extreme can upgrade to the Performance Plus package, which includes the above items as well as “other racing-derived features” such as four-point seatbelts and a fire extinguisher.
