Miami Beach, Florida – The Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC), owned by Miami City Beach and privately managed by Oak View Group, has appointed Bethael Gabriel as the new Director of Public Safety and Transportation.
Bethael will oversee all aspects of MBCC and its campus safety, security and transportation to ensure a safe and seamless experience for events, attendees, employees and contract partners. He is an experienced safety and security professional with over 20 years of experience, and he manages safety operations, trains employees and develops security strategies throughout the hospitality industry.
He has worked with top brands in the hotel and security industries, including the Ritz-Carlton South Beach in Miami Beach and the Hyatt Regency Chicago Parker. He manages security actions for high-profile guests and events, including VIPs, celebrities, sports teams and bands to ensure their safety and confidentiality. His experience also includes working with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies and building strong relationships with first responders.
Bethael leads the security team, and the ability to coordinate with multiple agencies and implement advanced security protocols ensures the safety of guests and employees. While at Park Hyatt, Chicago, his division was recognized as the best department of the year for its outstanding performance and leadership in safety and security operations.
Prior to joining MBCC, he served as Director of Safety and Security at Fountains Resort, where he managed the security of a 55-acre property with multiple facilities and guest accommodation. His expertise in crisis management, operational coordination and emergency response planning will help further strengthen MBCC’s safety operations.

Bethael will focus on evaluating and enhancing existing security protocols on the MBCC campus. He will review security technologies such as advanced surveillance systems and access control measures to improve security and operational efficiency. In addition, he will implement an advanced training program for MBCC’s safety and transportation teams to ensure they can handle a variety of situations.
He will work closely with other departments to ensure that all security measures are aligned with the operational needs of the site, including cybersecurity, and support daily and high-profile events. His strategic approach will also include collaboration with the City of Miami Beach, Miami-Dade County First Responder Community, and an emergency management team about comprehensive emergency preparation procedures and security strategies.

My goal is to promote an environment that is safe and hotel-oriented, contributing to every event and experience at MBCC,” Bethel said.
Bethael holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and security studies from Miami Dade College.
