Mercedes-AMG celebrates its 130 years of motorsport heritage with the launch of the limited-edition AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport. This exclusive race car pays tribute to the brand’s legendary history, which began on July 22, 1894, when a Daimler-powered car won the Paris-Rouen race, the first time the iconic three-pointed star won in motorsport. To mark this important milestone, Mercedes-AMG has produced only 13 AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport, making it an exclusive collector’s item. This edition is particularly noteworthy as it represents the final version of the legendary 6.3-liter V8 engine in the AMG GT3, a powertrain that has become synonymous with the brand’s racing success.
Mercedes-AMG GT3 130Y Motorsport Edition: Design
The exterior design of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport pays homage to the iconic Mercedes-Benz 300 SL W 194, the brand’s first fixed-roof racing car from 1952. The design is consistent with the SL that won the Carrera Panamericana in 1952 with Hans Kroenke and Karl Kling, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Hermann Lang and Fritz Ries.
