- The next-generation GLC will challenge competitors like the BMW IX3 in the electric SUV segment.
- Sitting on the top of the series will be the GLC AMG EV with over 500 horses.
- It will ride on Mercedes’ MB.EA platform, offering 800 volts for faster charging.
Mercedes-Benz previewed the new all-electric GLC earlier this month, and now our spy photographers have captured the prototype of the AMG version during testing. Although it still wraps in that iconic camouflage, there are some key visual differences that set this hotter GLC apart and there are some interesting updates under the skin.
The prototype is covered in white and black camouflage, but there are some significant differences between this AMG GLC and the regular model. The hood looks more muscular and has a different set of headlights, although they appear to be temporary units. The finished lighting should be very similar or the same as the standard GLC.

Mercedes-AMG also installed unique new wheels for the electric SUV, making the whole thing look more mean. Most of the rear end is covered in snow, but there is a large lip spoiler at the rear – but obviously temporary, and it won’t look like this on the finished model.
The all-new Mercedes GLC will replace the EQC and is one of the 17 new electric vehicles that Mercedes promises to offer in the coming years. When it goes to market, GLC will match the BMW IX3, which itself is undergoing a comprehensive overhaul for the next generation.

Platform and charging capabilities
All new GLC models will ride on Mercedes’ MB.EA platform, a modular electric architecture that can handle 800 volt charging with a maximum charging rate of up to 320 kW. This means overall charging time and higher efficiency.
Unlike outgoing EQC, which has never had a full AMG version, the upcoming GLC EV AMG will bring the power of spades. EQC’s AMG series models are high at 402 hp, but this new AMG variant may launch 500 hp, and may even cover 600 hp on the 600 hp mark with a pair of effective motors.
