Mercedes-Benz is all set to launch the new E-Class Long Wheelbase (LWB) model in India. Scheduled to be launched on October 9, 2024, the luxury sedan is expected to enhance the brand’s position in the premium automotive segment. Deliveries are expected to start by Diwali, adding a nice surprise to the festive season.
New Mercedes-Benz E-Class Long Wheelbase: Key Features and Updates
The 2024 E-Class LWB model (codenamed V214) has undergone a number of improvements over its predecessor, the V213. The model is 14 mm longer, 13 mm taller, and has a 15 mm longer wheelbase. Exterior design features include:
- Avant-garde grille: The new star-shaped grille adds to its unique look.
- LED headlights: High-performance LED headlights enhance visibility.
- 18-inch alloy wheels: These wheels are stylish and sturdy, highlighting the luxurious feel of the sedan.
- Flush door handles and Maybach-style glass: The appearance is fashionable and modern.
- 3D star design taillights: Adds a touch of sophistication to the rear.
The E-Class LWB is available in five colors, allowing buyers to choose their preferred hue.
Enhanced comfort and luxury
Designed for chauffeured passengers, the new E-Class Long Wheelbase offers a host of luxury features:
- Rear seats: The base can be extended and tilted up to 36 degrees for greater comfort.
- Internal facilities: Includes wireless charger, comfort headrests and rear electric sunshade.
- Entertainment and atmosphere: Enjoy a 17-speaker Burmester 4D Surround Sound System with Dolby Atmos, rear dual-zone air conditioning and 64-color ambient lighting. There are three interior trims to choose from.
Innovative Technology
The E-Class LWB is equipped with cutting-edge technology:
- Super Screen: Equipped with a fully digital driver display, a 14.4-inch central display and a 12.3-inch passenger display.
- MBUX system: The third-generation MBUX integrates advanced UI/UX, digital air-conditioning vents, air purification kit, and selfie and video cameras.
Performance and Power
The 2024 E-Class LWB offers two engine options:
- 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine: Output power is 204 horsepower.
- 2.0-litre turbodiesel: Provides 197 horsepower.
Both engines are equipped with a 48V mild hybrid system that adds 23 horsepower and 205 Nm of torque. The engines are paired with a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission to ensure a smooth driving experience.
Pricing and Competitors
The new E-Class LWB is expected to be priced at around ₹8.2 million (ex-showroom). It will compete against rivals like the BMW 5 Series LWB and Audi A6. The current generation E-Class has been in the market since 2017 and received a mid-term facelift in 2021.
