Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series: styling cues
Let’s start with the styling. The Maybach retains the SL’s dimensions, but up front is a new, shiny, chrome-plated Maybach grille. The air vents on the front bumper feature the Mercedes-Maybach logo liberally. The hood now has a Mercedes hood ornament, chrome trim on either side of the windshield, and a chrome center stripe that runs its length. Potential customers can also opt to have the Maybach logo engraved into the base paint covering the hood. A closer look also reveals rose gold trim inside the headlights.
Turning to the side profile, 21-inch wheels can be seen (exclusive to Maybach), the Maybach emblem is embossed on the chrome strips behind the doors and on the fenders. The Maybach emblem is embossed on the entire fabric folding roof. The rear seats of the SL 680 are replaced by unique double air intake covers with the Maybach brand logo. The rear seats are surrounded by a brand-exclusive rear skirt with additional chrome strips and a new diffuser design. The double air intakes in the “aerodynamic design” make it possible to remove the rear seats. Customers can choose between two design concepts: Red Ambience or White Ambience. The former features a red body and a black contrasting hood, the latter a mostly white body. Other paint jobs are available on request.
