India Mercedes-Mebach SL 680 debuts, only three units
Mercedes-Benz has launched the Maybach SL 680 monogram series in India, priced at Rs. 42 crore rupees (exe showroom). This exclusive convertible roadster marks Maybach’s entry into the segment, offering a unique blend of performance and luxury. The model has only allocated three units to the Indian market in 2025 and will therefore be a rare and highly sought-after product.
Unique appearance design
The Maybach SL 680 is based on the AMG SL 63, but has multiple design enhancements that distinguish it from high-performance fellows. The front grille is designed with a chrome radiator, with illuminated vertical slats and prominent “Maybach” inscriptions. The long engraved hood, in obsidian black, highlighted Maybach logo, can also be integrated into the structure of a soft-topped roof as part of a Mercedes custom program.
The side profiles showcase custom 21-inch forged wheels with a unique 5-hole design and radiate 36 spokes from the iconic three-point star logo. A smooth chrome strip crosses the length of the car and comes with door handles and other chrome details on the front fenders. At the rear, a refined bumper design with chrome-plated elements ensures a more complex appearance than a standard SL sports car.
Luxurious interior
Inside, the SL 680 offers two-seater configurations, opposite to the AMG SL 63’s four-seater layout. The cabin comes with premium white Nappa leather interior from the personalization department of Mercedes manufacturer. The signature Maybach pattern is embedded in the seat, while the three-spoke steering wheel stands out and the Maybach name is featured. The rolling basket located behind the seat headrest also features a Maybach badge, enhancing the car’s elite identity.
The driver-centered cockpit includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch portrait-style central touchscreen that can be adjusted for optimal visibility. Mercedes’ AI-based MBUX multimedia system has been integrated for enhanced connectivity and convenience. Additionally, the brand has perfected the exhaust system to minimize cabin noise, while the suspension setup is fine-tuned to prioritize comfort over full sports.
Performance and powertrain
Under the hood, the Maybach SL 680 can accommodate a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers peak torque of 585 hp and 800 nm. A dual roller turbocharger strategically placed between the cylinder heads enhances throttle response. The power supply is transmitted to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission, which allows the sports car to accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in 4.1 seconds. While slightly slower than the AMG SL 63, this model offers a more refined and luxurious driving experience. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 260 km/hr.
Exclusive Products
Given its limited availability and customization options, it is likely to become a collector for Indian car enthusiasts. Booking is open now, but there are only three units this year.
