MG Windsor EV price update – what makes it a market winner?

JSW MG Motor India currently has three EVs (electric vehicles) in its product line-up – ZS EV, Comet and Windsor. Launched in September 2024, the MG Windsor EV became an instant hit and generated huge sales for the OEM. In fact, this 5-seater electric MPV Accounting for 49% of MG’s total sales in the last quarter of 2024 (i.e. October to December). It helped the company gain 21% of the electric vehicle market share in 2024. The automaker has sold 10,045 Windsor units since its launch.

The carmaker recently increased the price of Windsor EV by Rs 50,000. Now, its base, mid-range and high-end versions are priced at Rs 13.99 lakh, Rs 14.99 lakh and Rs 15.99 lakh respectively.

Favorable factors

What works in its favor are the BaaS (Batting as a Service) leasing scheme, spacious cabin, new-age features, efficient powertrain setup and, of course, competitive pricing. The Windsor EV starts at Rs 13.99 lakh, while the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 EV start at Rs 12.49 lakh and Rs 15.49 lakh respectively. In fact, the full-featured range-topping model of MG’s electric car is cheaper than the top-end models of its main rivals.

Feature-rich cabin sets it apart

MG has equipped its new electric MPV with many advanced features, including leatherette steering wheel, seats and dashboard, Infinity 9-speaker sound system, panoramic glass sunroof, ambient lighting, PM2.5 filter, ventilated front seats, automatic adjustment Optical IRVM, OTA (over-the-air) updates, WiFi connectivity, wireless charger, valet mode, 10.1 with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity inch touchscreen infotainment system, manual height-adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, 7-inch digital instrument cluster and more.

Impressive range

The powertrain setup of the MG Windsor EV includes a 38kWh LFP battery and an electric motor located on the front axle. This setup delivers a maximum power of 136bhp and 200Nm of torque. The MG electric MPV promises a cruising range of 331 kilometers after a full charge. Its battery pack is said to be fully charged in 55 minutes using a DC fast charger. The MPV also comes standard with a portable charger and a wall box charger provided by the car manufacturer.

Warranty

The carmaker offers a lifetime warranty and unlimited kilometers on its battery, although it is only available to the first buyers.
