
The MG Windsor EV, a rebadged version of the internationally sold Wuling Clould EV, has made its way into the Indian EV market with a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The model is available in three variants (Excite, Exclusive and Essence) and four colours (Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige and Turquoise Green). It has several eye-catching features like a panoramic glass roof and a 15.6-inch touchscreen (the largest in its class). While the MG CUV (crossover utility vehicle) has no direct rivals, it rivals several EVs in India, including the popular Tata Nexon. Let’s compare these two EVs on paper to see which one is the better choice.
Windsor EV vs Tata Nexon EV: Powertrain
The MG Windsor EV comes with a 38kWh battery pack and a single electric motor for a range of 331 km on a single charge. The power and torque outputs are 134bhp and 200Nm respectively. The Nexon EV, on the other hand, comes with two different battery pack configurations: 30.2kWh and 40.5kWh. The former produces 127bhp and 215Nm, while the latter produces 141bhp and 215Nm. The car is equipped with a new Gen2 permanent magnet synchronous motor, which is claimed to be more efficient, lighter and cleaner. The smaller battery has a range of 325 km, while the larger battery has a range of 465 km. In this category, Tata’s SUV surpasses the MG EV with its larger battery pack and longer range.

Windsor EV vs Tata Nexon EV: Dimensions
The Windsor EV is 61 mm taller, 39 mm wider and 301 mm longer than the Tata Nexon EV. It also has a 202 mm longer wheelbase and 254 mm more cargo space.

Windsor EV vs Tata Nexon EV: Features
The Windsor EV comes with an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic glass roof, a power tailgate, wireless phone charging, automatic air conditioning, a four-way power-adjustable passenger seat, connected car technology, a nine-speaker sound system, a leather-wrapped two-spoke steering wheel, and 256 multi-color LED ambient lighting.
In comparison, the Nexon EV comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen with mobile connectivity, touch-sensitive HVAC controls, a wireless charger, and cooled front seats. While both cars come with a ton of equipment, the Windsor EV goes a step further with features like a 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a larger infotainment system, and rear seats with a 135-degree reclining function.
Windsor EV vs Tata Nexon EV: Design
The MG Windsor EV features a sleek and minimalist design with a crossover body. The car features a charging flap on the front left fender, a full-width light bar (front and rear), a wide raked windshield and short hood, vertically mounted headlamps, flush door handles and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
The Tata Nexon EV, on the other hand, adopts a more modern and stylish design approach. It gets a sleeker grille, continuous LED daytime running lights and taillights, split headlamps and aerodynamically designed 16-inch alloy wheels. The charging status of the EV is indicated by an LED light bar that runs across the width of its front.

Windsor EV vs Tata Nexon EV: Price
The Windsor EV is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (introductory price) ex-showroom, excluding the battery. MG has launched a unique scheme called Battery as a Service (BaaS) where customers have to pay Rs 3.5 per km for the battery. The complete price list is yet to be announced. In comparison, the Tata Nexon EV is currently priced between Rs 12.49 lakh and Rs 16.29 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
