JSW MG Motor India launched its first smart CUV, the Windsor EV, in September 2024. Within a month of sales starting, the CUV’s sales in India exceeded the 3,000-unit mark. Last month, MG delivered 3,116 Windsor units, accounting for about 30% of the company’s total passenger car electric vehicle sales in India. This also means that Windsor EV is the best-selling electric car in October 2024.
MG sold 7,045 vehicles last month, a year-on-year increase of 31%, setting the highest sales volume since the company was founded. In the same period last year, the company sold 5,108 vehicles. MG said its “focus on sustainable transportation solutions for a cleaner tomorrow” has achieved “encouraging results”, with its new energy vehicle (NEV) portfolio accounting for 70% of total sales.

MG Windsor Electric: Technical Specifications
India’s first smart CUV, Windsor EV, comes in three variants: Excite, Essence and Exclusive, and comes with an IP67-rated 38kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a claimed range of 332 km. The battery supplies power to a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which can be fully charged in 55 minutes using a DC fast charger with a capacity of up to 45kW. The motor is tuned to produce 134bhp and 220Nm of peak torque.
MG Windsor EV is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 11.99 lakh under BaaS (battery as a service) at Rs 3.5 per km. The price of the complete vehicle starts at Rs 13.50 lakh. Prices are ex-showroom.
MG Windsor Electric: Features
In terms of instrumentation, the electric car comes with a 15.6-inch “Grandview” main touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity. The car also features airline lounge rear seats (with 135-degree recline), leather-wrapped 2-spoke steering wheel, panoramic glass roof, 256 multi-color LED ambient lights, 9-speaker Infinity sound system, connected car technology and Rear air conditioning vents.
In terms of safety, the car is equipped with a 360-degree surround-view camera system, six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), electronic parking brake system with automatic parking function, and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Available in four exterior finishes: Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige and Turquoise Green, the MG Windsor competes with the Tata Nexon EV, Curvv EV and Mahindra XUV400 domestically.
