We’ve all been speeding, but few post the evidence to millions of subscribers like YouTuber Marques Brownlee

- YouTube user MKBHD, aka Marques Brownlee, posted a video showing himself speeding.
- Shortly after it was posted, viewers denounced him and he deleted the portion of the video.
- He has now taken responsibility and apologized for his driving behavior.
YouTube tech blogger Marques Brownlee (known as MKBHD on social media) is happy to test out a variety of cars. As a Porsche 911 owner, he seems to like things that go fast. This was evident in a recent video when he showed himself traveling at nearly 100 mph (161 km/h) in a 35 mph (56 km/h) zone. How this happened, what Brownlee did next, and his reaction now, is a bit hilarious, but a good lesson for all of us.
The video is a sponsored post by DJI and features Brownlee talking about how much he loves the brand’s cameras. He even mentioned their excellent clarity and quality. In a very brief five-second clip, we see his point of view as he drives down the road in a Lamborghini Revuelto.

Thanks to the excellent image quality, we can first see that from the moment the video begins, Brownlee is traveling at nearly 60 mph in a 35 mph zone. He then accelerated and blurred the speedometer reading in the instrument cluster. Ridiculously, he or his editorial team seemed to have forgotten that the passenger’s other monitor also showed the same thing, and it wasn’t blurred.
As a result, as Brownlee accelerated and passed a children’s crossing sign, the reading in the video was as high as 96 mph. Understandably, the internet at large didn’t like the video very much and blamed Brownlee wherever they could, including on X and Reddit.
Shortly after, Brownlee deleted the five-second clip, commenting on the video saying: “Cut out unnecessary driving clips that clearly add nothing to the video. I hear all your complaints about sponsored videos too. Feedback.” He later apologized online.
Look, reality is here and we speed up from time to time. However, accelerating it to such an extreme – and then releasing it to millions of subscribers – is certainly problematic. It’s good that Max apologized, took responsibility, and vowed to make changes. Hopefully this whole situation is now behind him and those who follow him.
