Pol Espargaro will make his third appearance as a wildcard in the 2025 MotoGP season, focusing on collecting data to help develop the KTM RC16.
Pol Espargaro will make his third appearance as a MotoGP wildcard at the San Marino Grand Prix at Misano. He will be looking to build on his experience at Misano, having previously finished on the podium for KTM and Repsol Honda. After Dani Pedrosa came close to a podium finish at Misano last year, Espargaro will be looking to make a big splash. He has honed his RC16 skills in recent wildcard races at Mugello and Austria. As a former full-time rider following Pedro Acosta’s retirement, Espargaro’s return will be a great show for the fans.
Pol Espargaro: “Mugello allowed us to get back to MotoGP speed, and then we felt more competitive at the Red Bull Ring, where we did a lot of test laps. Misano is another familiar track and one I’m excited to get back on track at after training in Austria. We need to reconfirm some data in race conditions and do everything we can to help Brad and Jack adjust the setup for the two Grands Prix we have there.”

MotoGP: Pol Espargaro and KTM
Pol Espargaro has a long history with KTM. He helped the brand to its first podium finish in MotoGP between 2017 and 2020. After a short stint with Repsol Honda, Espargaro returns to KTM in 2023, joining the GasGas Factory Racing Tech3 team. A serious injury in Portimao caused him to miss most of the season.

Espargaro made a successful return at the British Grand Prix and currently serves as KTM’s test rider. His recent wildcard ride at Mugello shows his continued dedication to the team. As KTM aims to overtake Ducati and Aprilia, Espargaro’s role as fifth rider at the Austrian Grand Prix will be crucial. With his knowledge of the track and near-victory experience, he is in contention for top results alongside factory riders Brad Binder and Jack Miller.
