Motorcyclist goes flying after ill-judged overtaking, narrow

A motorcyclist was lucky to survive after clipping the wing mirror of a red car and narrowly avoiding a group of cyclists. While we don’t envy cyclists – or anyone involved in an accident – we can observe how poor decisions can have dire consequences.

The video went on tour reddit After it was originally shared by Fenexito, who is clearly a keen motorcycle enthusiast, he took to Instagram to show a tense moment when everything almost went terribly wrong. It’s unclear whether he was sharing his own horrific experience or someone else’s, but the outcome was the same. The clip highlights the speed of driving southbound on a public road when judgment is shown to be poor.

In the video, the rider can be seen taking a left-hand bend at high speed and trying to steer a red car onto the shoulder of the road. Perhaps unknown to motorcyclists, it appears the vehicle veered directly to the right, directly into the path of the bike. The rider was unable to avoid the vehicle and hit the wing mirror, clearing it and sending it to the edge of the road.

As the motorcyclists initially remained upright, they went over a portion of dirt and then slammed into a small dirt embankment. This sent him – and the motorcycle – flying through the air. The situation could have been made worse as a group of cyclists were directly in front of the motorcycle and the rider narrowly avoided colliding with them.

It makes for something horrifying to watch, and the video even captures the moment the cyclist slowly gets back to his feet after the huge impact. Luckily for them, they appeared to be wearing full leather suits.

While the driver of the red car may have veered slightly to the right, there is no doubt that the cyclist’s actions were the primary cause of the crash. There is actually a lane on the left side of the car that riders can use instead of trying to pass along the shoulder.

As a motorcyclist with over a decade of riding experience on four sport bikes, I was always taught to treat cars like lava – as far away as possible. If this rider had given the car more room, they might have avoided the crash entirely.
