Musk may leave at the end of his special government employee status, but he may play an informal role

- Elon Musk is reportedly preparing to leave the Trump administration in May or June.
- Some insiders suggest he may not leave completely, but may adopt a more informal role.
- The White House denied the report, but Musk’s special status will expire soon.
Elon Musk seems to be planning to withdraw from the Trump administration after he gets into chaos and eliminates thousands of jobs. For Tesla owners and investors, that may not be enough.
The specific details are hazy, but political reports say President Trump told his “cabinet members, including the cabinet,” Musk will “retreat” from his role in the coming weeks. However, he may not leave completely, as an insider suggests that Musk may play an “informal role as an adviser.”

Another source, reportedly, is more outspoken because anyone who believes Musk will disappear completely is “deceiving himself.” That being said, it is believed that the change will occur in late May or early June, as Musk’s special government employee status lasts only 130 days.
NBC News seems to have confirmed most of this as they report that Trump told cabinet members last week. They added that when his special government status ends, the billionaire will leave.
Still, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt called Politico’s report “trash” and claimed that “Elon will leave public service with a special government employee after Doge’s incredible work is completed.” However, his special status ends in the set position, so the writing seems to be on the wall.
Whatever happens, Musk and Trump and his appointment as head of the government’s efficiency ministry has sparked great opposition. Tesla’s sales are under attack in tanks, dealerships, and the company’s stock has fallen nearly 26% since January. Most importantly, Tesla hitting has become global, and a recent study found that 67% of Americans won’t buy Tesla, partly because of Musk.
