New Bajaj Chetak electric car range launched in India; prices start from

Bajaj Auto has launched the latest version of its electric scooter, Chetak, which has been in the Indian market since 2020. The Indian two-wheeler manufacturer has launched the new Chetak 3501, 3502 and 3503 models under its ’35 Series’. The Chetak 3502 model is priced at Rs 1.20 lakh. On the other hand, the 3501 retails at Rs 1.27 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom, Bengaluru. Pricing for the 3503 model will be announced at a later date.

The updated Chetak brings a host of improvements, especially in terms of battery, and adds some new features. It also received cosmetic changes to ensure its design remains modern and relevant. In terms of market competition, the electric scooter will continue to compete with several popular electric scooter models such as Ather 450X, TVS iQube, and Ola S1. Bookings for the model are ongoing and deliveries are expected to begin by the end of this year.

The new Chetak range comes with an upgraded platform, additional features and a refreshed design. The seat length has been increased by 80 mm and is now 725 mm, providing more comfort to the rider. The updated model features a new screen with advanced features and offers an impressive 35 liters of under-seat storage, enough for two helmets. The wheelbase has been extended by 25mm and the floor is longer, improving rider ergonomics.

The Chetak EV is powered by a new 3.5kWh battery and protected by a stronger metal plate for added durability. The motor produces 5.6bhp, which helps achieve a top speed of 73km/h. Additionally, the scooter’s range on a single charge has been increased to 153 kilometers from the previous 125 kilometers, thanks to a redesigned cooling system for the motor and controller. It also comes with a 950W car charger that can charge 0-80% in just 3 hours.

Apart from these technological upgrades, the Chetak EV also gets a fresh design update to keep its appearance modern and attractive. It features neoclassical styling, round headlights with DRLs, Chetak badging, metallic finishes, integrated turn signals and stylish skirts. The rear design maintains continuity with the earlier model, with an elongated tail, taillights and Chetak badging.

In terms of features, the new range comes with a digital instrument cluster with a 5-inch touch TFT display that provides key information about the vehicle. It offers navigation with integrated maps, music controls and smartphone connectivity. This scooter forgoes traditional mechanical switches in favor of tactile switches. Finally, features such as accident alerts, geo-fencing, speed warnings and theft detection enhance the model’s safety factor.
