Cupra’s baby electric car shows off more designs at Nürburgring
- A Cupra Raval prototype has been spotted in Germany with different camouflage.
- The all-electric subcompact hatchback is expected to debut in 2025.
- It will share its underpinnings with the Volkswagen ID.2 and Skoda Epiq.
Cupra has updated the Raval’s camouflage livery, giving it a new try to trick our eyes as it gets closer to its 2025 debut. Oddly enough, the front end now closely resembles a baby Porsche Panamera, with a vinyl wrap that obscures the actual design details.
Our spy photographers spotted the Laval near the Nürburgring, where it’s currently in the final stages of development. This prototype looks almost naked, rather than the typical heavy camouflage seen in early sightings. Look closely and you can see that carefully placed black and white decals are now scattered across the production body panels, emphasizing certain components and masking others.

What catches our attention here are the Porsche-inspired decals on the headlights, almost reminiscent of what would happen if Stuttgart decided to get into this territory. Elsewhere, Cupra slaps black stickers on the side profile, making the prototype’s plain plastic cladding look bulkier and more aggressive than it appears under camouflage.
The design of the production-spec Cupra Raval is expected to be a slightly toned-down version of the UrbanRebel concept previewed in 2022, itself an evolution of the 2021 version. The model looks sportier than the larger Cupra Born, with ultra-mini proportions and sharper styling cues. Cool features include aerodynamic alloy wheels, flush door handles and an integrated rear spoiler.

The Cupra Raval will share its MEB Short underpinnings with the upcoming Volkswagen ID.2 hatchback and Skoda Epiq SUV. So under the hood (or rather, under the floor), the entry-level Raval is expected to feature a 223 hp (166 kW / 226 PS) electric motor, allowing it to handle hot weather with ease. Incubation field. Rumor has it that a more powerful all-wheel-drive version could be launched, equipped with VW Group’s dual electric motors capable of producing a strong 335 hp (250 kW / 340 PS).

Cupra may offer its subcompact electric car with a choice of 38 kWh and 56 kWh battery packs, giving it a range of up to 440 kilometers (273 miles). Note that Volkswagen is also developing a hot hatch version of the ID.2, previewed last year with the ID GTI Concept.
Production of the Cupra Raval is expected to begin next year in Pamplona, Spain, alongside the Volkswagen ID.2 and Skoda Epiq. With a target price starting at around 25,000 euros ($28,000), the Raval positions itself as an affordable yet avant-garde entry in the Cupra range of electric vehicles. Key rivals will include the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric and the Alpine A290, both of which will arrive from France.
