On December 4, 2024, the newly facelifted Honda Amaze will be launched in the Indian market to compete with Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor

While SUVs have taken over the Indian car market, sedans and hatchbacks have faced little resistance. The most popular sedans are from the sub-40 lakh segment, led by Maruti Suzuki Dzire. Honda is preparing a better-equipped Challenger in the form of the Amaze facelift, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming vehicle.

New Honda Amaze facelift

Honda Cars India Ltd is currently on a mission to simplify its product portfolio. We saw this with the launch of the Elevate SUV, which is based on the popular city car platform. Now, we see the launch of the facelifted Amaze, which will compete with the likes of Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor and the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Dzire.

New spy shots show the Honda Amaze coming in a new colour, possibly a bright red metallic color as seen on the current model. But it could also be a new color. We can see that these new spy shots show the Amaze facelift without any camouflage and already arriving at dealerships ahead of launch.

Honda has used a radical new design on the Amaze, taking its look from the latest Accord sold globally. This is a radical departure from the current model and builds strong and powerful appeal. We have a brand new deck with a bigger grill than before. Above this grill we have a chrome strip for a premium appeal.

The headlights are new and feature integrated LED daytime running lights. Their projectors have LEDs inside, and they appear to have LED projector fog lights. New bumpers and fog light housings have also been redesigned. The front windshield now features rain-sensing wiper sensors, which are missing from the current model.

On the side, the Amaze remains very similar, except for the new design of the alloy wheels. We also can’t see any 360-degree cameras. The rear features a new bumper, shark fin antenna and new taillights that look a lot like those seen in the city.

major internal changes

Inside, the new Amaze gets a much-needed revamp. First, we can see a new steering wheel derived from the City and Elevate, as well as a new dashboard design and center console for a more modern look. The main highlight is the new freestanding infotainment screen, which looks like a larger 10.2-inch unit. It may support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

A much needed addition is the rear AC vents and we can expect other changes. There are rumors that the Amaze facelift may be positioned on the same platform as the City and Elevate to reduce manufacturing costs. The validity of this speculation will be confirmed upon release.

Under the hood, we expect the new Honda Amaze to be powered by the same 1.2-litre 4-cylinder NA petrol engine as before. This is probably a good thing considering the Maruti Suzuki Dzire has just transitioned to a rather humble 3-cylinder engine. Making the facelifted Amaze the only sub-4m sedan in the Indian market with good looks and a smooth 4-cylinder engine.
