New Honda Amaze to make its global debut soon, teaser revealed

The third-generation Honda Amaze compact sedan is expected to make its global debut before the end of 2024. However, from the first exterior photos of the sedan, we can see smoked taillights, a reversing camera, and a shark fin antenna at the rear. Apart from this, the test car also offers three headrests for the rear-seat passengers, while the overall silhouette remains the same as the current version. A larger standalone touchscreen is expected to find a place in the new Amaze compared to the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the existing Amaze version. Other expected features include a fully digital console as well as six airbags as standard.

The upcoming Amaze will ride on the same platform used by the Elevate SUV and City sedan, albeit with some modifications. The third-generation Amaze will have a shorter wheelbase compared to the City sedan (2,600 mm) and Elevate SUV (2,650 mm). The Amaze currently has a wheelbase of 2,470 mm.

New Honda Amaze: Engine

The powertrain is likely to be the same as before. It is expected to be powered by a 1.2-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, mated to a CVT automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual transmission. In the current version, the unit produces 90 horsepower and 110 Nm of peak torque. A CNG version is also planned.

Honda Amaze: Prices, Competitors

The new Amaze is expected to be priced higher than the current model, which is priced between Rs 7.2 lakh and Rs 9.96 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Once launched, it will once again compete with the Tata Tigor, Hyundai Aura and Maruti Suzuki Dzire.

The Dzire will be updated by the end of 2024 (probably October). Expected exterior enhancements include revised front and rear bumpers, updated headlamps and new alloy wheels. The sedan is likely to feature a Fronx-style cabin with a single-pane sunroof (first in its class) and a 360-degree camera. Safety-wise, you can expect six airbags, a 360-degree surround view camera, traction control, ABS with EBD and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

As far as the powertrain is concerned, the new model is expected to be powered by the new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z-series petrol engine, mated to a manual or AMT gearbox, but Maruti Suzuki is yet to confirm anything.
