The actual image of the bike has been used for registration, not for sketches, indicating that production may begin soon

For those who love retro-themed motorcycles, Honda is making the brand new Cafe Racer. Registered images from Japan show striking visuals and provide a complete look at the bike’s hardware. Honda’s new cafe racer will be inserted in the 300cc segment, which will rival established players from brands like Triumph, BMW, KTM and more.

The round headlights and pole-end rearview mirrors are obvious, and the retro look is obvious. The bike also gets a circular instrument pod, possibly a digital unit. The retro theme is further enhanced with wired wheels. These will come in handy when negotiating unpaved paths.

For practical convenience, the wheels that speak may use tubeless tires instead of conventional tube-type tires. The lighting settings are expected to be fully led. Honda’s new Cafe Racer is designed to deliver agile performance thanks to its compact profile. The bike’s chisel tank has a sharp curve that enhances its aggressive posture and gives it a muscular appearance.

The knee grooves in the fuel tank ensure enhanced ergonomics, stability and control. These will be useful when turning and actively riding in race-like environments. The bike has only one central part of the SCOOP. The seat height may be below 800mm, which will further improve control and handling.

Other highlights include a retro-style simplicity that overlooks the rising exhaust. It appears to be lacking catalytic converters, which raises questions about the launch prospects of bicycles in markets with stricter emission norms. In its current form, the bike may not meet the latest BS6 and Euro 5+ emission standards. However, catalytic converters can be added to the production version and may not be required for registration purposes in Japan.

Engine and specifications

Honda’s new Cafe Racer may get power from a 300cc, air-cooled single-cylinder engine. It may be the same units as other Honda bikes, such as the Honda CB 300 F (Indonesia) or the Honda CB 300 F Twister (Brazil). This engine can accommodate 24.5 hp/25.5 nm and is paired with a 6-speed transmission.

Assuming the new Cafe Racer may have a lightweight profile, its power-to-weight ratio is higher. When it comes to hardware, Honda’s new cafe racer has a USD fork and a single-movie rear suspension in the front. The brake setup includes disc brakes at both ends, which may be about 300 mm in the front and 220 mm in the rear. Dual-channel ABS will be available as standard.

The bike has a skeleton frame and two rear swing arms. The bike’s curb weight is expected to be about 150 kg. Other highlights include low-key, handlebars on the back and foot nails in the center position. Unsure Honda’s new cafe racer will be launched in India. It will certainly be useful here, as Honda wants to lead the hero motorcycle in the two-wheeler space.
