The Korean carmaker’s new sub-4 meter SUV Kia Syros is finally on the market! The carmaker launched the model and revealed all its variants, features and key details. Bookings for the new Kia compact SUV will begin on January 3, 2024, and its pricing is expected to be announced at the Bharat Mobile Expo in January 2025. Its deliveries will begin in early February. Once launched, the Syros will compete with the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO and the upcoming Skoda Kylaq. Variations and color options
Syros models are available in six trims – HTK, HTK (O), HTK+, HTX, HTX+, HTX+ (O) – and eight monotone color options: Frost Blue, Glacier White Pearl, Shiny Silver, Gravity Grey, Intense Red, Imperial Blue, Pewter Olive and Aurora Black Pearl.
Warranty and optional products
Kia offers the Syros in a variety of interior colors and seating options, depending on the model. Buyers can choose from three different sizes of alloy wheels. The main highlight of the Kia Syros is its interior, which has the most spacious, flexible and functional cabin in its class. In fact, its interior comfort rivals that of some midsize SUVs. Kia has packed its new compact SUV with several segment-leading features, including Kia Connect Diagnostics, OTA (over-the-air) software updates, second-row seat tilt and slide with seat ventilation, and best-in-class Trinity Panoramic display – connected car navigation cockpit.

The Kia Syros also comes with a comprehensive safety package. The new compact SUV is equipped with dual front airbags, front side airbags, side curtain airbags, high-line tire pressure monitoring, ABS with EBD, brake force assist system, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, and hill start assist control. Emergency stop signal, child locks, front parking radar, rear parking radar, speed-sensitive automatic door locks, collision-sensitive automatic door unlocking, front and rear full-seat three-point seat belt reminder, Isofix Rear anchors, front passenger airbag switch and indicator and rear passenger alert.
The ADAS Level 2 system with 16 autonomous functions further enhances its safety factor. The ADAS suite offers forward collision warning and avoidance assist, smart cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, lane keep assist, parking collision avoidance assist (reversing), and many more advanced safety features.
Engine and transmission options
Kia Syros is available with two engine options: 1.0L T-GDi Smartstream petrol engine and 1.5L CRDi VGT diesel engine. The petrol engine is said to deliver 88.3 kW of power at 6,000 rpm and 172 Nm of torque between 1,500 rpm and 4,000 rpm. It can be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The diesel engine develops 85 kW at 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque between 1,500 rpm and 2,750 rpm. It is available in two gearboxes – 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. Both engines come with a two-wheel drive transmission.
Variant wise engine options
The petrol-manual combo is available in HTX, HTK+, HTK (O) and HTK trims, while the petrol-DCT is available in HTX+ (O), HTX+, HTX and HTK+ variants. The diesel manual package comes in three trims – HTX, HTK+ and HTK (O), while the diesel automatic package is reserved for HTX+ (O) and HTX+ trims.
Dimensions, boot space and design
The length of the Kia Syros ranges from 3,990 mm to 3,999 mm, the width is 1,805 mm and the height is 1,680 mm. It has a trunk space of 465 liters and a fuel tank capacity of 45 liters. Unlike other Kia vehicles, the Syros adopts Kia’s new design language with a tall-boy stance. Its key design highlights include the signature digital Tiger Face grille, Ice-Cube MFR LED headlights with Starmap LED DRLs, Starmap LED taillights, streamlined door handles (a first in the segment), 17-inch crystal-cut alloy wheels, shark fin antenna and Integrated spoiler.
price expectations
The Kia Syros is likely to be priced around Rs 1 lakh higher than the Sonet, which is currently priced at Rs 8 lakh to Rs 15.77 lakh (ex-showroom). It will sit above the Sonet and below the Seltos in the company’s India portfolio.
