India’s popular compact sedan – the Maruti Suzuki Dzire – will enter its fourth generation next month. The new car will be launched on November 11, 2024, and the official price will be announced. Comprehensive cosmetic changes and feature upgrades are expected. The new 2024 Maruti Dzire will also come with a new Z-series petrol engine borrowed from the Swift hatchback. The 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine will be lighter and more fuel-efficient than its predecessor, the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder K-Series engine.
The new Z12 engine is said to deliver 82 hp and 112 Nm of torque. The new engine is 8 hp less powerful than the old gasoline engine. Maruti Suzuki claims that this engine can reduce CO2 emissions by 12%. Both the 5-speed manual gearbox and the 5-speed AMT gearbox will be carried over from the current generation. In terms of mileage, the new Z series petrol engine has improved fuel efficiency by almost 3kmpl, with the Swift claiming a mileage of 24.8kmpl – 25.75kmpl. The new Maruti Dzire is also expected to achieve the same figures.
The 2024 Maruti Dzire will feature a completely different design compared to the Swift, including a new black horizontally placed grille with chrome elements, new headlights with black bezels, and a revised front bumper. New diamond-cut alloy wheels, wraparound LED taillights and more angular creases will further differentiate it from its hatchback sibling. Read: 5 upcoming Maruti Suzuki cars priced under Rs 10 lakh
The new Dzire will be the first vehicle in its class to feature a sunroof. On the interior, it will feature a light-toned dashboard and upholstery, as well as features such as a 9-inch standalone touchscreen infotainment system, an analog instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch digital MID, and automatic climate control.
In the compact sedan segment, the new Maruti Dzire will continue to compete with the Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor and Honda Amaze. The Honda Amaze will also get a refresh early next year. The new Dzire is expected to be priced slightly higher than its predecessor.
