New Maruti Suzuki Dzire revealed ahead of India launch

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the next-generation Dzire sedan in India soon. Not long ago, the company launched the fourth-generation Swift hatchback with a new Z-series engine and tweaked exterior and interiors. Now, ahead of its official price announcement (likely by the end of 2024), the next-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire has been spotted completely uncamouflaged.

Compared to the new Swift, the upcoming sedan looks refreshed in terms of design. It gets a wider grille with horizontal inserts flanked by slimmer LED headlights. The front fascia also gets a sportier bumper while the sides appear to feature a new set of alloy wheels. At the rear, the updated sedan gets redesigned LED taillights and bumper along with a spoiler integrated on the boot lid. Other eye-catching bits include LED fog lamps and a powered sunroof (a first in its segment).

New Maruti Suzuki Dzire: Interiors

While the interior details of the sedan are still unknown, we expect the cabin design and layout to be similar to the current model, with just a different color scheme. Other expected features include a floating touchscreen infotainment system (with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto), a new console for the air conditioning functions, a two-spoke steering wheel, and automatic climate control.

New Maruti Suzuki Dzire: Powertrain

Based on its hatchback sibling, the new Dzire is likely to be powered by the same Z-series 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine as the Swift. In the Swift, the engine produces 80bhp at 5,700rpm and 112Nm of peak torque at 4,300rpm, mated to both a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. Output figures for the sedan are still unrevealed.

The upcoming sedan is expected to get a CNG option later. The new Swift was recently offered with a CNG powertrain, making it the first Maruti Suzuki model to get the new Z-series engine with a CNG kit. The Swift CNG is available in three variants – VXi, VXi (O) and ZXi – and is priced between Rs 82 lakh and Rs 92 lakh (ex-showroom).
