Suzuki and superbikes go hand in hand. The iconic motorcycle manufacturing brand is famous for some of the most famous superbikes in the world. In India, the company has just expanded its large bike lineup to include the new Suzuki GSX-8R, which they call “a new standard in sports”. Let’s take a look.

New Suzuki GSX-8R released

During the festive season, Suzuki Motorcycle India has launched a new fully faired machine. It’s called the GSX-8R and is the latest addition to Suzuki’s range of large bikes in India. The Suzuki has been launched at a price of Rs 9.25 lakh (Ex-sh) and is available in three colors: Metallic Matt Sword Silver, Metallic Triton Blue and Metallic Matt Black No. 2.

With cutting-edge sportbike styling, the GSX-8R is designed to excite buyers by combining excitement with everyday riding performance. Like other Suzuki sportbikes, the GSX-8R’s fairing, fairing and windshield were designed after extensive wind tunnel testing. The short exhaust muffler ensures it looks sleeker and lighter.

Hexagonal LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED taillights and LED blinkers give it a modern aesthetic. There’s also a very long tail end that owners might throw away immediately. Suzuki GSX-8R’s 5-inch TFT LCD instrument screen is full of modernity. The main rivals of the Suzuki GSX-8R include the Triumph Daytona 660 and the Yamaha R7, the latter of which is expected to be launched in India.

While the main frame is made from steel tubing, Suzuki used aluminum wherever possible. Other notable design elements include the sculpted 14-litre fuel tank, cowl-mounted ORVMs, comfortable seats with wiggle room, signature font used on the fairing, raised pillion seat and more.

Powering the GSX-8R is a 776cc parallel twin engine equipped with technologies such as DOHC 4V cylinder head, 270-degree crankshaft, cross-balancer system, two-into-one exhaust system and two-stage catalytic converter. It delivers peak power of 81.8 bhp at 8,500 RPM and peak torque of 78 Nm at 6,800 RPM, paired with Suzuki clutch assist, bi-directional quick shifter and a 6-speed gearbox.
