The Suzuki V-Strom 160 is a versatile machine with the ability to traverse city streets and off-road environments
Suzuki has expanded its V-Strom adventure touring motorcycle range with the addition of the V-Strom 160. The idea is to make the ADV experience available to more users. While currently only available in Colombia, the bike may be launched in India as well. Interestingly, this bike looks very similar to the Haojue DL160.
Suzuki V-Strom 160 – Attractive Design, Colors
Although the Suzuki V-Strom 160 has a lower displacement, it shares the same sporty styling as the higher capacity V-Strom bikes. With its compact dimensions, the Suzuki V-Strom 160 also appears to have a sharper silhouette compared to models like the V-Strom 1050. In India, the V-Strom series includes V-Strom SX 250 and V-Strom 800DE. All V-Strom bikes have a similar vibe, although each bike has some unique features that give it a unique look and feel.
The Suzuki V-Strom 160 comes with signature features associated with the V-Strom series. It includes raised front fenders, a clear windshield, a sculpted fuel tank and an upswept exhaust. Other key highlights include a multi-function digital instrument panel, KYB mono-shock rear suspension and a USB charging port. The bike comes with 17-inch alloy wheels with 100/80 front and 130/70 tubeless tires at the rear. Dual-purpose tires can unlock the off-road track experience, although their usability is primarily geared toward on-road environments.
Suzuki also offers some eye-catching color options for the new V-Strom 160. The most eye-catching is the yellow and blue combination. It’s perfect for the sporty nature of the bike. Another color option is a white and blue combination. It’s relatively sober, but feels quite elegant and confident.
Suzuki V-Strom 160 – Performance, Specs
Powering the new Suzuki V-Strom 160 is a 160cc engine. The single-cylinder SOHC FI engine produces 14.75 hp and 14 Nm of torque. The bike comes with a 5-speed gearbox. The engine is configured to provide smooth performance in a variety of riding conditions. The 160 mm ground clearance seems suitable for some mild off-road needs.
Thanks to the seat height of 795 mm, even smaller riders can ride with confidence. The V-Strom 160 weighs 148 kg and is easy to operate and control. The bike is 2,025 mm long and has a wheelbase of 1,345 mm. The fuel tank capacity is 13 liters. At the front, the bike has standard telescopic forks. Braking equipment includes disc brakes at both ends, with dual-channel ABS as standard.
Suzuki V-Strom 160 – India launch prospects
As of now, Suzuki has launched the V-Strom 160 in Colombia. The bike will be manufactured in Brazil. As the adventure tourer segment is gaining popularity in India, the new V-Strom 160 may also be launched in India. However, there are no official details about the launch of V-Strom 160 in India yet.
As of now, the entry-level dual-sport motorcycle segment is dominated by the Hero Xpulse. Suzuki V-Strom 160 may be launched at a lower price. It could appeal to enthusiasts who want an ADV that looks and feels suitable for their daily commute.
