New Toyota Camry priced at Rs 48 lakh in India – Changes

The ninth-generation Toyota Camry has been launched in India at a price of Rs 48 lakh, which is Rs 183,000 higher than the previous generation model (Rs 46.17 lakh) and Rs 600,000 cheaper than the Skoda Superb (Rs 54 lakh). The sedan continues to be shipped to India via the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route. Significant updates have been made inside and out, with a more fuel-efficient hybrid system delivering 30% savings over before.

Newer, frugal powertrain

The new Camry is powered by a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and uses Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid system. The engine produces 230bhp of power and 220Nm of torque, an increase of 12bhp over the previous model. Power is sent through an eCVT (Electronically Controlled Continuously Variable Transmission) gearbox.

The 2024 Toyota Camry comes with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite, which includes Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). The package features radar-based cruise control, pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, road sign assist, lane tracing assist and automatic high beams. In terms of safety, the Camry also comes with nine airbags, a 360-degree camera, and front and rear parking sensors. For entertainment, a nine-speaker JBL sound system is also available.

Feature-rich interior

The new Camry’s interior features a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 7-inch digital instrument panel and a 10-inch HUD (Heads-Up Display). It also comes with heated and ventilated 10-way power front seats, ventilated and reclining rear seats (with rear center console controls), three-zone automatic climate control, digital key function and retractable sunshades. Panoramic sunroof with blinds. Additionally, the dashboard design has been updated to give it a more modern feel.

Refreshing appearance

Visually, the Camry has a new look, with a trapezoidal grille, U-shaped LED headlights and DRLs (daytime running lights), revised bumpers, newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels and C-shaped wrap-around LED taillights. Built on the TNGA-K platform, the length, width and height of the new car are 4,915 mm, 1,839 mm, and 1,445 mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2,825 mm.
