Ellis is an AI chat platform created for MICE professionals that streamlines the meeting planning process in New York City.
Expectations are high when travel industry veteran Julie Coker takes the helm New York City Tours + Meetings assumed the role of CEO and President in early December. Soon, she began flexing her leadership muscles, announcing the launch of a new AI-powered business event chatbot called Ellis to help meeting and event planners efficiently research the myriad of New York-only options available across the five boroughs. Designed in partnership with Matador Network’s GuideGeek, Ellis (named after the famous New York landmark Ellis Island) provides guidance and resources in 45 languages. It’s built on GuideGeek’s ChatGPT4o platform, using information from NYC Tourism + Conventions and more than 1,000 other tourism information integrations.
“We’re excited to launch Ellis, the first AI chat platform from a DMO designed to revolutionize event planning in New York City,” said Coker. “As a global leader in travel, we are breaking new ground with this free, innovative tool that enables planners to create unique events across our five boroughs. With an expected 13.1 million business travelers expected to welcome New York City this year, New York City is preparing Bringing you an unforgettable experience.”
Planners can use Ellis to drill down into specific information about a variety of questions and get immediate, detailed answers. For example: What room can I rent for a meeting of 50 people with a great skyline view? Or: How do I incorporate authentic Chinatown cuisine into a 250-person meeting I’m planning to host nearby in the city center?
“We are excited to enhance our meeting development services with this innovative new feature to help planners customize events with endless possibilities across New York City’s five boroughs,” said Jerry Cito, executive vice president of meeting development at New York City Tourism + Meetings .”
