Next Generation Jeep Compass Spy Before Release

The new, third-generation Jeep Compass will be based on the STLA mid-size platform and offers a variety of powertrain options

Jeep is offering several major upgrades to the third-generation Jeep Compass. The European market will be obtained first, followed by South and North America. It is expected to be released later this year. Before that, fresh spy footage of the new Jeep Compass has surfaced on the internet. Is it ice or BEV? Let’s explore.

Next Generation Jeep Compass – What to expect?

Like trailers and spy shots, the new Jeep Compass has a higher profile. It has a stronger character, with features like rectangular headlights, sharp LED DRL, flatter hood, flat-way wheel arches and obvious shoulder lines. The floating roof effect with blackened C-pillar enhances the dynamic profile of the SUV.

The Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille is retained, but there may be some new lighting elements on the top to enhance the overall look. Although no interior decoration is seen, one can expect some significant changes to the cabin. The technology package can be upgraded with a larger touch screen infotainment system.

For the new look, the dashboard, center console and door trim can be updated. Stellantis announced an advanced technology upgrade to the new stand for the Compass. This means that the device list can include multiple segments or top-notch features.

ADA and Connection features can be seen with multiple new additions. The current Jeep Compass is already equipped with features such as ventilation seats, a 10.1-inch touch screen, 10.25-inch digital clustering, wireless charging, voice commands, and a dual-pane sunroof. Updates to the New-Gen Jeep compass may include more options for more exotic stitching and ambient lighting.

Is it a BEV version?

According to its multi-energy roadmap, Jeep will offer multiple powertrain options for the new compass. For European markets, one option may be a mild hybrid setting. It may include a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine that generates 134 hp and an electric motor that adds 28 hp.

In India, the second-generation compass offers a 2.0-liter diesel engine that outputs 170 hp and 350 nm. It is paired with 6MT or 9AT. European markets will also receive a fully electric and plug-in hybrid version of the new Jeep Compass. The EV version is available using dual motors (AWD). As Walter Vayr mentioned, this particular unit is a BEV.

The Jeep Compass plug-in hybrid variant is also expected to get all-wheel drive with a rear-mounted electric motor. In electric mode, the PHEV range is about 80 km. The new Jeep Compass will retain its off-road capabilities. In a cross-road environment, users can expect a better overall experience with the upgraded suspension settings used by the STLA Medium platform.

Will it be launched in India?

Jeep is expected to launch a new compass in April 2025. The SUV will be produced at the Stellantis factory in Melfi, Italy. The U.S. market will also receive a new Jeep Compass later this year. In India, the current second generation model will continue in the same format. Jeep can introduce some updates when needed. India’s next-generation compass (codename J4U) was abandoned due to lack of commercial viability.
