Nissan has revamped its compact SUV Magnite to keep up with competition in India, which includes the Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Exter, Tata Punch, Renault Kiger and Mahindra XUV 3XO. The model’s starting price is Rs 5.99 lakh, which is much lower than its nearest rival, the Exter. Let’s compare these two SUVs from several aspects to see which one is more suitable for buyers.
Nissan Magnite vs. Hyundai Exter: Design
The redesigned Nissan SUV has a unique front look, thanks to a large grille with chrome accents at both ends. However, the LED headlights and boomerang-shaped DRLs remain unchanged. The rear of the vehicle is also unchanged, except for revised LED taillights with a smoked look and a chrome center insert. In its new version, the Magnite comes with 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Nissan Magnite vs. Hyundai Exter: Powertrain
The 2024 Magnite continues to be offered with two engine options: a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol with 71 hp and 96 Nm, and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol with 99 hp and 160 Nm. A CVT automatic (turbo petrol) and a five-speed manual (standard on both engines) are the available transmission options. Additionally, a five-speed automatic gearbox is optional on the NA petrol unit. On the other hand, Hyundai’s compact SUV is powered by a 1.2-liter Kappa 4-cylinder petrol engine with 82 hp and 113.8 Nm of torque. It comes with either 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. Compared to the Nissan SUV, the Exter’s naturally aspirated gasoline engine has higher capacity and more power. However, the Magnite’s turbocharged petrol unit offers more power than the Exter’s single-engine option.
The Hyundai Exter also comes with a CNG drivetrain that delivers 68 hp and 95.2 Nm. It also uses dual-cylinder CNG technology to provide ample cargo space.

Compared to the Exter, the Magnite is 179mm longer and 48mm wider. It also comes with a 50mm wheelbase. However, the SUV is 59mm shorter than the Hyundai model.

The Exter, on the other hand, comes with footwell lighting, metal pedals, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technology, and cruise control.
