Nissan Magnite and Tata Nexon are strong competitors in the compact SUV market. Nissan Magnite vs. Tata Nexon: Powertrain
The Magnite is available with two engine options: a 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine. In comparison, the Nexon is available in diesel, turbo-petrol and turbo-petrol CNG units. The Magnite’s naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 71 hp and 96 Nm of torque, while the turbo petrol engine produces 99 hp and 160 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a five-speed manual (standard on both engines), a CVT automatic (for the turbo-petrol engine) and a five-speed automatic.

The Tata Nexon’s 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 113 hp and 260 Nm of torque, while the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 118 hp and 170 Nm of torque. The turbo-petrol engine is available with four different gearbox options (five-speed manual, six-speed manual, seven-speed DCT and six-speed AMT).
Instead, the diesel engine is available paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed AMT. The CNG powertrain produces 98.6bhp and 170Nm, paired with a 6-speed MT. The turbo variant of the Nexon produces 20bhp more power and up to 18Nm of torque compared to the Magnite. The Tata SUV also comes with an optional turbo-petrol CNG drivetrain.
Nissan Magnite vs Tata Nexon: Features
While both the Magnite and Nexon are well-equipped, the Tata SUV stands out with premium features such as a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, 9-speaker sound system and a 10.25-inch fully digital driver display. On the other hand, the Nissan SUV comes with a 6-speaker sound system, a 7-inch digital driver display, and a smaller 8-inch screen. Unlike the Magnite, the Nexon comes with ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof. However, it lacks the ambient lighting available in Magnite. These SUVs come with 360-degree cameras and six airbags. Tata SUVs offer Electronic Stability Control (ESC), while the Magnite does not.

The Tata Nexon is 46 mm wider and 48 mm taller than the Magnite. However, the wheelbase of the latter is lengthened by 2 mm.

Nissan Magnite vs Tata Nexon: Prices
The price range of Nissan Magnite is from Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 11.50 lakh. These are introductory pricing for the first 10,000 buyers. On the other hand, the Tata Nexon is priced between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 15.5 lakh. At the entry level, the Magnite is Rs 2 lakh cheaper than the Tata Nexon. The higher-spec variant of the latter is priced at Rs 15.50 lakh, which is Rs 4 lakh more than the top-spec Magnite.
