Fall is football season, but it’s also great for cross country. It’s a conundrum that Nissan is trying to solve with Project Trailgater.
This model is based on the modified Frontier Pro-4X, built in partnership with Music City Trucks, and equipped with a large number of Nismo off-road accessories. These include a lift kit and revised suspension with forged upper control arms and high-performance shock absorbers, springs and coilovers. They also include a cat-back exhaust, roof rack, auxiliary lights and 17-inch beadlock wheels wrapped in Yokohama Geolandar M/T tires.

While that covers the off-road side of the equation, what’s more striking about the truck is that it’s a mobile man cave. For this purpose, the model comes with a floor stand mounted on the bed, equipped with two 43-inch TVs and a soundbar. They are connected by a deck drawer system that houses a propane grill and Dometic cooler.
The rear seats have been replaced with custom floor leveling panels, and interior amenities continue. This allowed the team to install custom lithium battery packs, refrigerators and Starlink kits to stream football matches in remote locations.
If that’s not impressive enough, the truck also comes with a 180-watt fold-out solar panel and a fold-out kitchen counter with a sink. There’s also a fire pit and plenty of electrical equipment to keep the party going late into the night.
Nissan didn’t mention performance specs, but the standard truck comes with a 3.8-liter V6 engine with 310 hp (231 kW / 314 PS) and 281 lb-ft (381 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission and available all-wheel drive.
The Trailgater project will be unveiled at next month’s SEMA show, along with four other concepts.
