With sales slumping and after-sales services slumping, Ola Electric launches BOSS offer ahead of festivals
Ola Electric, India’s leading 2W electric mobility solutions provider, has been aggressively promoting sales of its S1 series of electric scooters. The company has faced a big slump lately, and last month even set a record for its lowest sales in 2024. In this context, Ola has now launched a limited time offer.
Dubbed BOSS (Ola Biggest Season Sale), this limited-time offer ensures buyers can take home an Ola S1 scooter for just Rs 49,999. However, Ola’s new BOSS promotion seems to be only applicable to the basic S1X electric scooter, and the offer is while stocks last. As indicated by small font asterisks.
Ola S1X electric scooter Rs 50,000
Although Ola Electric remains India’s best-selling electric scooter maker, its sales have dropped significantly and valuable market share is being lost to the likes of TVS and Bajaj Chetak. In September 2024, Ola Electric recorded its lowest sales volume in the calendar year at just 23,965 units.
To boost sales during the festive season, Ola Electric has launched what it calls BOSS (Biggest Ola Seasonal Sale). With this initiative, Ola Electric will offer the base S1X electric scooter at an attractive price of Rs 50,000 (effective Ex-sh). Rs 49,999 to be exact. Compared to the actual price, the price has been reduced by Rs 25,000.
Ola Electric mentioned that the BOSS offer is only for the S1X 2 kWh battery model, which is priced at Rs 49,999, while stocks last. No time frame was mentioned and the price may be restored to Rs 74,999 (Ex-sh) at the company’s discretion.
Sales drop, complaints rise
Starting today, you can gain early access to the Ola community and enjoy discounts. Speaking of community, Ola scooter owners have been taking innovative and aggressive steps to express their distrust in the brand. The company receives an average of about 80,000 complaints per month. An Ola Electric owner sang a sad custom song on a loudspeaker in front of the showroom, displaying a faulty Ola scooter.
An Ola scooter owner from Kalaburagi (then Gulbarga) in Karnataka set fire to the Ola showroom to express his dissatisfaction with the company’s after-sales service. Or lack thereof. Owners have been reporting a variety of minor and frustrating hiccups as well as major malfunctions. Ola service centers are being called graveyards for e-scooters on social media due to long service hours.
To address the growing complaints, Ola Electric promised to take quick steps to contain the damage. The company has pledged to expand its service network to 1,000 service centers by the end of December. These include AI-driven maintenance with Move OS 5, training 100,000 third-party mechanics, super service, one-day repairs, and more.
