Drivers must share the road with a variety of other road users every day. These include motorcyclists, pedestrians, mopeds and bicycles, among others. What happens when drivers and cyclists have serious disagreements about potentially dangerous driving? Well, it just happened in Park City, Utah, and initially, both men went home with tickets. Pierce Kempton, a 22-year-old man, was driven by 73-year-old Gary Peacock, who was riding a road bicycle. Kempton continued walking down the road while talking on the phone, turned a few corners, and parked. To his surprise, it wasn’t long before the peacock rolled up behind him.

The older gentleman even opened Kempton’s car door and told him “I’m calling the police and you can’t leave.” Peacock then placed the front of his Pinarello bike between the door and the frame so that Kempton was There is no way to close it. The two argued for some time until police finally arrived.

But in the end, the dashcam footage saved Kempton money. He posted a follow-up video showing the city attorney’s office’s response.

As for Peacock, who was called a millionaire by the Daily Mail, he expressed regret after the incident. “I lost my temper,” he said. “I didn’t go in there to hit them or anything, just to tell him: ‘Hey, you’re too close to me. I’m upset about that. I’m angry about it. And then his reaction pissed me off.”
As an avid cyclist, I can understand Peacock’s reaction to feeling terrified, but based on the dashcam video, it’s unclear exactly why Peacock was terrified by this incident. Regardless, this whole situation is a reminder that people should control their emotions when driving or riding a bike…
