Only 5 % of Americans are investigated by Americans who want electric vehicles as their next car.

The result may seem surprising, but even in large companies, things are not always like them

Only 5 % of the surveyed Americans want electric vehicles as their next car, but is this really true?
  • A new study shows that most Americans still want the ice of the next car.
  • The country’s demand for electric vehicles and PHEV is different from the country, but it is still very low in many markets.
  • More than half of the car buyers in the United States are also considering using another brand.

Last year, the global sales of electric vehicles and PHEV soared to a new height, exceeding 17 million units for the first time. This increased by 25.6 % over the previous year. However, a new study shows that for most car buyers in the world’s major markets, few buyers are interested in buying electric cars or PHEV as the next car. However, things may not look like-but there will be more later.

This study comes from the lofty Deloitte in the consultation and consultation industry. It made the interviewees ask them to want the power assembly of the next car. Although the results between the market are different, the ice model of gasoline and diesel power is by far the most popular. In most markets outside China, electric vehicles and PHEV are lower on the shopping list.

First, the result

In the United States, only 5 % said they were looking for electric vehicles as the next car, and 6 % said that the power assembly preference was PHEV. In contrast, 62 % of respondents said their preferences were ice models, and 20 % of respondents may choose conventional hybrid power. In other markets, the results are similar. Throughout Southeast Asia, 53 % of people prefer ice, followed by 17 %. Considering the hybrid power, 13 % think of PHEV, and 11 % think of electric cars.

In Germany, the same 53 % of the respondents want ice and the next car, while PHEV is only 9 % and 14 % of electric vehicles. There are differences in China. 38 % of them said their preferences were ice, followed by 16 %, in favor of hybrid power, considering 17 % of PHEV, and 27 % of them tended to EV.

Numbers don’t lie-but do they say all the truth?

Although these results may be surprising, in view of the high demand for electric vehicles in 2024, as described in the title, there is a huge warning: Very,,,,, Very Small. In the United States, only 937 people asked their power assembly. In China, only 939 people answered this question. Therefore, it is difficult to make a detailed statement for how many people do or want EV or PHEV as their next car.

In other words, this research does reveal some interesting tidbits. For example, brand loyalty seems to be declining. In the United States, 54 % of car owners plan to turn another car to another brand. This number is more dramatic in China, where 76 % of people are preparing to jump the boat. Deloittes pointed out globally that the defect of the brand is rising, indicating that consumers’ priority matters have changed.

The study also involves the often polarization topic of autonomous vehicles, and it seems to suspect that it is still alive and well. In the United States, 52 % of respondents expressed concern about robotic services operating nearby, and 64 % of the respondents were uneasy about the autonomous commercial vehicles cruise on highways. Despite the buzzing of autonomous driving technology, it is obvious that many consumers have not prepared to transfer the steering wheel.
