- A silver Lamborghini Diablo VT was damaged after an accident while the vehicle was being transported.
- A transport truck’s lift failed while unloading the supercar, causing it to fall.
- The Diablo was lifted by a crane to avoid further damage, but repairs would be costly.
Owning a Lamborghini Diablo is every car enthusiast’s dream – until that dream comes crashing down into harsh reality thanks to a transport ramp. This is what happens when a silver Diablo accidentally rolls over while unloading, leaving its owner to juggle hefty repair bills and the relentless attention of the internet
Photos of the incident quickly circulated online, showing the silver Lamborghini parked awkwardly on its right rear wheel. The front fender was not so lucky, bearing the brunt of the accident and suffering severe damage after scraping wires. The root cause of the accident appears to have been a failure of the trailer’s hydraulic lift while the Diablo was being unloaded, as evidenced by the ominous puddles of hydraulic fluid on the tarmac below.

As far as we can tell, the original photo appears to have been first shared on the VW Vortex forums by a user named VTECeateR (although we’re open to corrections). They went viral after being retweeted by the Instagram account Supercar Fails. The incident allegedly occurred in Boise, Idaho.
According to one Instagram user, the truck was picking up a classic Ford Mustang, so Diablo needed to be backed out of the trailer. Unfortunately, as the Lamborghini slowly drove up the ramp, its right side gave way under its weight, causing the unfortunate collapse.
Other photos taken later that night showed the Diablo being carefully lifted by a crane to prevent further damage to its fragile body or landing gear. Witnesses allegedly reported that the classic Lamborghini had been left at the scene overnight in the pouring rain, along with an Aston Martin that was also on the ill-fated trailer.
Intercity Lines, the company that originally owned the truck, clarified that they sold the truck several years ago and had “nothing to do with the truck.” A company representative emphasized that these types of trailers require “constant maintenance,” noting that they perform maintenance on their fleet every 30 to 60 days to avoid such incidents.
The Lamborghini Diablo is celebrating its 35th anniversary since it was first launched in January 1990. Powered by a powerful V12 engine, the Diablo succeeded the legendary Countach and continued to be produced until 2001, when the baton was passed to the Murciélago.
This example appears to be a 1994 pre-facelift Diablo VT, and some viewers claim it was sold by Cats Exotics in 2019 for $295,000. The exterior is finished in Silver Mist Metallic paint, which matches perfectly with the red leather interior.
At its heart is a mid-mounted 5.7-liter V12 engine that sends 485 hp (362 kW / 492 PS) to all four wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. According to listings from the time, the Diablo’s odometer showed just 13,700 miles (22,048 kilometers), which would explain its pristine condition.
With any luck, the insurance will pay for the damage and restore the Italian stallion to its former glory, ensuring he’s back on the road where he belongs.
