ORLAND PARK, Kan. — Beginning in 2025, the inaugural Phorm Monster Games will bring top athletes to Overland Park for the first time to test their fitness and endurance over three days of competition July 25-27. The competition will be held at the Overland Park Convention Center and the Jewish Community Center of Kansas City.
Over the past seven years, the popularity of the First Phorm Monster Games has grown significantly, prompting founders Jason and Heidi Ansley to begin looking for a new location for the competition. Monster Games founder Jason Ansley said hosting the competition in a new location and city will allow the event to continue to grow and develop. “Moving to Overland Park will allow the First Phorm Monster Games to expand the competition, allow more athletes to qualify, and enhance the overall experience.”
More than 1,000 athletes are expected to qualify for the 2025 Olympics. Last year’s competitors came from 40 different states and six countries. Co-founder Heidi Ansley said the Olympics are a great way to showcase athletes’ fitness levels. “We have competitors ranging from beginners to the best of the best,” she said. “It’s impressive to see the age range of competitors, and it’s incredibly exciting to see them all trying to do something outside of their comfort zone.”
“We identified the first Phorm Monster Games as Overland Park’s signature event, providing a unique opportunity to partner with the Overland Park Convention Center and Jewish Community Center to bring a competitive experience to everyone,” said Eric Olson, Vice President of Sports and Events at Visit Overland Park. “As Visit Overland Park’s sports tourism strategy evolves, we will continue to pursue opportunities to bring a variety of sporting events to Overland Park, and competitive fitness is a prime example. We look forward to hosting more than 1,000 athletes, as well as many spectators who will experience all that Overland Park has to offer.”
Warren Wilkinson, president and CEO of Overland Park Visitors, said the selection of Overland Park to host sporting events is a testament to the power that sports events have on the community. “The trust placed in Overland Park Visitors, the Overland Park Convention Center and the Jewish Community Center further demonstrates the value of sports tourism and Overland Park’s competitiveness at the regional and national levels, making the most of the impressive sports facilities within the community.”
