Pick of the Day: 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 Pickup Truck

Dodge Viper It’s an undisputed American icon – a car that has been dedicated to ultimate raw performance since its inception more than 30 years ago. However, you may not know that about 20 years ago, Dodge also installed the Viper’s 8.3-liter V10 engine into a pickup truck. Approximately 10,000 trucks with this configuration were sold, including this one:

“No. 69 of 500 numbered Yellow Fever models,” the listing reads. “Only 200 two-doors of this edition were produced.” The truck has just 19,228 miles on its odometer, according to the seller. Said the truck had been garage kept its entire life.

Based on the Ram 1500 pickup truck, the Ram SRT-10 is a limited-production, high-performance model launched in 2004 and produced through 2006. Some models have a regular cab configuration, and some have a four-cab configuration. But what they have in common is the engine derived from Viper:

Power comes from a Chrysler 8.3-liter V8 rated at 500 horsepower and 525 pound-feet of torque. Even though the regular-cab SRT-10 has a curb weight of over 5,000 pounds, it can accelerate to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. No wonder the scoop on the hood is named the “Power Bump.” Torque can be sent to the rear wheels via a Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission. In this case, it’s a three-pedal truck with a stick shift.

In addition to the hood scoop, the SRT-10 adds a number of other exterior features that set the SRT-10 apart from regular Dodge pickups, including billet-style grille inserts, massive 22-inch wheels, spoilers, and colored bodywork . Matching bumpers. There’s absolutely no mistaking this truck for anything else on the road. The interior incorporates some color-matched treatments, including the dashboard and placard, denoting the “Yellow Fever” configuration (only 500 units will be built in total).
